What is the Gospel

Good News from the Word of God

The Gospel is good news! It's about God's redeeming love, grace, and mercy that is found in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is about Jesus's teachings, life, death, and resurrection. It's the message of salvation and redemption for all who believe in Him

  1. The Nature of God: In the Gospel, we learn about the nature of God. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." This verse illustrates God's love for humanity and His desire for everyone to have eternal life.

  2. The Sinfulness of Humanity: Romans 3:23 states, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." This verse emphasizes that every person has sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard.

  3. The Consequence of Sin: Romans 6:23a declares, "For the wages of sin is death..." This verse highlights the consequence of sin, which is spiritual death and separation from God.

  4. The Solution: Jesus Christ: Romans 5:8 reveals, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.

  5. The Power of the Resurrection: 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 explains, "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." Jesus didn't remain dead; He rose from the dead, demonstrating His power over sin and death.

  6. The Call to Repentance and Belief: Acts 3:19 urges, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." Repentance involves turning away from sin and turning toward God, while belief involves trusting in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  7. The Promise of Salvation: Romans 10:9 states, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Salvation is offered to all who believe in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord.
